Our Church Leadership

Our Church thrives because of the energy and style of the people who have stepped up to lead. Here are a few of the people that make our church community special:

The Rev. Kenn Leischner - Interim Pastor

Rev. Kenneth G. Leischner is a native of Parkston, SD. He and his spouse, Kathy have three grown children: Grant, Omaha, NE; Jessica McCulley, Alexandria, VA; and Abbie Oran, Kearney, NE; and 5 grandchildren.  Rev. Kenn joined the staff at Yankton United Church of Christ as Interim Pastor at the beginning February of 2019.  Kenn attended Yankton College for one year before transferring to the University of South Dakota graduating with a BS in Education.

After working in marketing and management with several companies, he finally responded to the call to ministry he first felt while attending Placerville Camp. He graduated from United Theological Seminary of the Twin Cities in 1987. While there he served the United Methodist Church of Finlayson, MN and the Sandstone (MN) United Church of Christ.

In 1989 Rev. Leischner was called to serve the Federated Church, UCC-PCUSA in Columbus, NE where he still resides. During a transition in the Nebraska Conference in 1994, he was asked to serve as Interim Associate Conference Minister which awakened a desire to serve in interim ministry to help deal with conflict, visioning, organizational restructuring and other transitional issues.

As an interim he has served on the conference staffs of Michigan, Penn West, and the Rocky Mountain Conferences the latter two as Conference Minister. In addition, Rev. Leischner has served local congregations in Missouri, Illinois, Nebraska, Tennessee, and Iowa.
